چکیده
This paper reports an experimental programme on masonry walls composed of handmade solid clay brick and hydraulic lime mortar. Reversed cyclic shear compression tests were carried out the in three different configurations: unreinforced, repaired retrofitted, just retrofitted. Damaged retrofitted with Basalt Textile Reinforced Mortar (B-TRM) tested again to investigate recovery strength, stiffness improvement drift capacity. The repair consisted filling open cracks replacing damaged bricks by following so-called “scuci-cuci” technique. configuration externally bonded B-TRM undamaged walls. system comprised continuous bidirectional grids basalt fibre embedded mortar both surfaces results showed suitability proposed solutions for seismic retrofit post-earthquake existing buildings. research highlighted capacity technique reinforce effectiveness investigated increasing resistance, ductility, energy dissipation unreinforced masonry. In addition, allowed a better understanding behaviour subjected horizontal displacement terms failure mechanism capacities.

Effect of Mortar Type on the Seismic Response of Partially Grouted Reinforced Masonry Shear Walls
Since the establishment of ASTM standard C91, masonry cement mortars have become widely used for masonry construction in low to moderate seismic regions. However, the Masonry Standards Joint Committee Code prohibits the use of masonry cement mortars in lateral force resisting systems for structures that fall into Seismic Design Categories D, E, and F. The general objective of this study is to e...

متن کاملEffective stiffness of unreinforced brick masonry walls
Code design of Unreinforced Masonry (URM) buildings is based on elastic analysis, which requires as input parameter the effective stiffness of URM walls. Current approaches estimate the effective stiffness as fixed ratio of the gross sectional stiffness but comparisons with experimental results have shown that this does not yield satisfactory predictions. In this paper, a recently developed ana...
متن کاملSimulation of Masonry Beams Retrofitted with Engineered Cementitious Composites
A thin layer of ductile fiber-reinforced mortar material referred to as Engineered Cementitious Composites, or ECC has been experimentally investigated as a seismic retrofit for unreinforced masonry infill walls in non-ductile reinforced concrete frames. Compression tests of masonry prisms retrofitted with 13mm of ECC were conducted representing the compression strut of a masonry infill under i...
متن کاملStrengthening of Existing Bridge Structures for Shear and Bending with Carbon Textile-Reinforced Mortar
Increasing traffic loads and changes in code provisions lead to deficits in shear and flexural capacity of many existing highway bridges. Therefore, a large number of structures are expected to require refurbishment and strengthening in the future. This projection is based on the current condition of many older road bridges. Different strengthening methods for bridges exist to extend their serv...
